"I have with me the straws of destiny,
Whoever picks the shortest
gets to choose the future we see"
Death stood like a game show host,
only bonier and like he has seen
all of the ghosts.
"It is to be my call today,
I feel upon me the honour will befall"
War lurched forward, snatching the straw
and started to pull, and kept on pulling, and pulling.
"Erm okay maybe not today" he said
with a metre long straw in hand,
"And seriously Lord D can we cease
with the magic straws please"
Pestilence next stood up,
"I never win these things,
not really worth bothering"
She yanked the straw, and it came free.
An ordinary drinking straw
neither short nor long,
she sat down knowing her chance had gone.
"There is one final straw today,
Dave as honorary horse person"
Dave stepped up... well shuffled,
head gazing at the floor,
trying his hardest to avoid eyehole contact.
He pulled the straw, less than an inch,
The winning straw, he held destiny in his claws.
"So, Dave, the final choice lands with you."
"I say disaster"
Everyone was shocked, "That was not what we thought you'd say,
I had you down for love or music any day."
"Disaster it is"
2 hours later...
The room was black as night.
A sweet smell filled the air.
"Crunch"
"Shhhh!!"
"Ohh they never listen to the one
that clearly knows what is happening"
Death commentated whether anyone wanted
to hear it or not, no one was going to tell death
to shut up
"Ah here is the big businessman
that won't stop what he is doing
even though it’s going to destroy everything"
"How can they ever escape,
they are trapped,
the buildings collapsed and the gas is filling.
Nooooo don't light a match."
"Ohh here are the bad guys
always there for some mindless killing,
Even when their world is dying."
"Yayyyy, they survived, whew,
I'm glad the bad guys got what they deserved.
And that the hero gets to live on"
Famine clapped.
"For now" Death added
"Dave, you have passed the test,
you picked a good movie I confess."
