Like a heart encased in amber,
a stray ember from another day,
a once forgotten refrain,
hummed internally,
sunlight piercing through the grey.
You walked my way.
Everything else stopped.
Like a photograph,
except my vision
was breathing to my
hearts beating rhythm
as the image of you
filled the view.
In a single heartbeat
my world was rocked.
Traffic no longer raced,
pedestrians stopped in place,
sound evaporated off to space,
to be heard only by
the stars
and the milky way.
I was entranced,
my lips stopped, legs flopped.
My heart was all over the shop,
in need of a jolt, an electrical shock
to restart my ticking clock.
It was like a sensory assault,
I was completely undone.
Beauty washed over me all at once.
I swam through the gloom,
like a swan upon a reflective lake,
in a sunset of pure unfiltered love rays.
I was in a daze. mind glazed over
as you continued to walk my way.
A single shot of adrenaline
brought my heart back to rhythm,
but my body was still stuck.
A rooted tree that has been
sat in place for centuries.
A statue of memories.
I lost all ability to speak,
a master of ceremonies
whose voice was out of reach.
I just stood,
feeling all of the emotions flood
over me.
A tantalising wave of excitement
from a boundless open sea.
I could feel entropy
wearing away my bones,
I felt empathy with the stones,
and the way they
can only watch and see.
I felt the way a cliffside feels
when it all starts to crumble.
I felt a rumble as I awoke
from my dream.
To realise it was not real,
but my mind was on a high
as the memories flew away
like dust in a wind filled sky.
