A valentines card could never do.

I would conduct the birds to sing

an orchestral tune. A song that speaks

of the beauty flowing through you.

I'd ask the moon to enlighten your nights,

I'd beg the sun to share with you, her light.

I want you to feel like the person you are,

the most beautiful woman alive.

I would find an enchanted forest,

where we can lead the flowers to dance,

I'd get the trees to delicately whisper

their stories, to leave you entranced

and in awe of nature's glory.

If I held my palms upwards to the sky,

I'd bring butterflies down from on high,

they would recognise the sound

of the butterflies that live in my stomach

when you are around.

I would speak to the whales,

asking them to create a fairytale fountain display,

only for your mesmerising eyes to see.

I would lead the animals to your door,

they wouldn't roar, or paw at you

with sharpened claws, they would worship

the ground that your feet walked soundlessly upon.

I'd get the angels to play their harps for you,

as I sit upon cloud nine, feeling the high

of your love blowing through like a refreshing breeze

in the desert of my mind. Making my heart

beat faster than it is built to.

Fairies would put on an acrobatic aerial ballet,

demons would give up evil for a day,

and send to the sky a fantasy firework display.

Just to say those words. Three simple words

that live deep inside.

All the while the birds would continue their song.

The words would burn from my notepad

and emblazoned themselves, a shadow upon the sun.

If I could, I would light the stars,

in a series of words, beautifully

exclaiming the best of you.

A verse confessing my every dream,

in hope that they would one day come true.

I'd redirect streams so they carved your name

into all the mountains, hills and valleys

they pass through, so that everyone

could hold that word upon their lips,

and make the world a better place to live.

A valentines card could never do,

a flowery gift would seem cheap in presence

of the diamond shine that surrounds you.

It wouldn't be able to say what I think of you,

it couldn't convey the natural beauty that lives inside.

Like a green and wonderful countryside

it can never hide, it's in your blood,

your mind, your heart so kind.

So, a valentines card could never do.

I'd want the whole world for you.

I wouldn't want to say it only once a year

I'd want those three words to be etched

to your heart for eternity,

because you are the sunlight, the darkness,

the whole vast universe, every beating star,

you are every atom of everything

and when I think of you my heart starts to sing.
