I shuffle my thoughts
because the deck
makes little sense.
Trying to find meaning
in the randomness
of happenstance.
I just know that
somewhere in the distance
a vibration fills the atmosphere,
not a sound of fear,
nor the echoes
of thunder rumbling near,
but a song of love
trying to find my ears.
I place my hand slowly down,
flipping the cards one by one.
A distraction from life
that is leaving my mind war torn.
I want to witness dawn as she
tears apart the ocean of night,
parting the clouds
to bring forth the light.
I want to sit upon the silver satellite
and watch you rise
like a phoenix
from the black fires of night.
As I flip through the cards faster
like a mystic spell caster,
I'm seeing images in my vision
I see you and me, deep in a dream.
I see the slow rise of sunshine
breaking across the sky,
sprinkling the room in light.
I see you start to wake,
as I slumberly start to forget
the adventures of dream walkers.
I see you blink away
the dark waters
clouding your eyes
and kissing me.
The signs sing for us,
the stars blink a message of love.
We just need to look up
once in a while,
and smile.
In my hands I hold my destiny,
not in the cards, but in the deeds
I do today.
In the things I give away,
sharing what I have,
my heart, my love, my words.
My worth is in these and more.
It pours from me if I unscrew the tap.
I don't need anything back,
I don't need to say anymore.
Just to see you smile, hear you laugh
as I open the curtains
and let the sunlight pour across the floor.
I'll be happy with that.
