Prisms of light

Feel the pitter patter

dancing of rain

across sand seared face,

Blown glass eyes,

sizzle in drizzled

dazzling pain.

Sunburnt into reality,

their glare - distant and glazed.

The hairs on neck raised,

as prisms of light phase,

rainbows leaving you amazed,

but their light never shines as vivid

and beautiful as the one

that encircles you.

Through heat haze stares,

that shimmery gaze

when you witness

a sight that

will forever

stay etched

onto the

still molten glass,

as it takes shape.

Sheer beauty can never be denied

access to the locked door

of your mind.

That beauty flying free,

she has created

worlds inside of me,

islands of solitude,

with only her words

floating,

sowing seeds of hope

through the minds

patchwork landscape.

In every breath that gusts

I'm glad she exists

sprinkling her star dust

over this world of us.

She doesn't know

how far her inspiration

has blown,

or how many little fires

she has stoked inside.

When her world

and my dreams collide,

It's like the atmosphere

has become supercharged.

Zipping energy provides the urge,

electricity surges between us.

Keeping our batteries recharged.

The woodworker

The woodworker

grabs his workman tools,

engraving with

a swift twist of frame,

starts to chisel,

lathe and shave,

until the pieces

start to resemble humanity.

Then he starts to assemble

the anatomy, throwing away

the remnants of failed artistry.

He

sculpts

a torso of willow,

It embodies sorrow.

It weeps,

across weeds

in sallow hollows.

A floating shallow wisp

starts to follow

through this

darkening forest

of thought

into which

we're embarking.

He cuts out

arms of oak,

Legs of maple,

sturdy, steady,

like his workman’s table.

He shaves away

thin strands of walnut,

to give the perfect finish

to the standing foot.

The woodworker

carves

a face of elm.

Eyes of pine

stare

upon a realm divine,

into space,

where he wishes

he could feel,

touch and taste.

the deep galactic beeches

Tourniquet

You bandage me.

A tourniquet

stopping my hope

from flowing away.

You are

the soothing balm

that eases my pain,

the gently rain

on a hot summer day.

A plaster,

over these

grazed knees of antipathy,

aversion to the version

of me that verges

on the not so subtle

self-hatred bubble

of my anxiety.

You are medicine.

A form of therapy.

A recipe that should be

stocked in every pharmacy.

You stop

the brain drain,

when my mind

wanders over

It's misfiring

mainframe,

you are a surgeon,

replacing the parts

that have burnt out.

My heart riddled

with self-doubt. The bits

that no longer contain

the essence of me,

you are the thread that stitches

these things so perfectly.

You nurse me,

not by waiting tirelessly

hand and foot over me,

making me cups of tea,

or providing anything for me,

but by being you.

Letting me witness

your goodness,

washing through

the murkiness

that could consume.

You heal me.

Not with string

sewn through me,

Your fingers

not worked to the bone

to provide

anything for me.

You heal me by

letting me see,

letting me view

you living life so free.

Being able to enjoy the moonlight

like you do as it waves over you,

letting me know how much

it helps to heal you.
