Forgive my season of silence

Forgive my silence

if my words don't come,

if one day the words won't fall.

Does fall scare me?

That call of autumn and gold.

If the leaves have their time to die,

then how in the still winter cold,

can my words keep falling free?

So glum, when a snowflake

is that will come.

Is that all there is to hold

and why does it fall upon my tree?

What if my words shake

in coldness

and only a single shard

does form and fall from me.

Forgive my silence

if the summer sun leaves me

with no words to describe

the heat I hold inside,

the fire that rages wide.

If no words will trickle

to describe

the delicate ripple

of a gentle rocking tide.

Know that those words

are waiting in line,

to come

when it is

the right time.

Forgive my silence

if the spring

leaves

me flustered,

from all the new

flowers clustered,

the lives that come,

and those that go,

in those

spring clean showers

where so many thought flow.

My words will form

in time,

but right now

I'm taking in the scenery.

Smelling the scent

of this grand bouquet you see

in front of me.

I'm letting all of earth's wonder

fill my mind

with all new thoughts to ponder

and new words to find.

Pour it down

Daybreak emptiness

fills this husk

with a feint hint of nothingness.

I listen to sad songs

feeling the pain, the rust

that stains every note.

The misplaced trust

that fills you up.

I drink the tears that rain,

pour it all down my throat.

I want to feel my stomach

bloated on the misery.

I want the emotions to rush through me.

I let the songs play.

Hearing love

that has gone astray,

hearing hurt

from deep within.

Connecting.

Deeply, intimately

with all the words contained

in their liquid fluidity.

I want it to pelt me

like rain from above.

Wash me

in this painful love,

let me take the sting

for each of us.

I listen intently,

hearing that container split

that distinct soundtrack.

A hairline crack snaking

down its sides.

The music and hurt. Aching deep in the pit

of stomachs shredded lining, where the butterflies

have all died.

All the emotion, pain that had lain inside

starts to slip, sliding, seeping

through the glass.

And I say release.

Let go of that pain at last.

Let that worry flow free.

I'll drink it down

to stop the torment

from drowning you

If it will help you fly free.

Real me

If you want to know the real me,

come and meet me in the wilderness

when my thoughts have run free.

Meet me in the moonlight

when all I'm left is an empty head,

any remnant of creativity has fled.

and I'm just aching,

withered laying on my bed.

You will still see sparks.

The well is never dry

just sometimes takes

a little longer for the darkness

to step aside.

The real me is on these pages,

in the stained ink

It's in the linked

thoughts that sometimes

don't sync, it's in the twisted imagery

that flickers insanely across

my minds display,

It's all a part of me.

the good, the bad,

the clever or slightly mad,

the weakness

and the strength

to fight each and every day.

Come and meet me on the rverside,

or someplace beside the sea

because that is where my thoughts reside,

where they are pulled

by the strings of the moonbeams

like the tides of my dream oceans.

Sometimes it's like staring

directly at the sun, eyes burn

and the colours run,

but they flicker with emotion.

other times it's a dim lick

of a candle in a faraway window.

but the flame never goes out

just sometimes needs oxygen

to feed it, make it burn brighter.

I'm all the bits and pieces,

the hopes and fears,

the scraps of memory,

the faded visage of previous years.

Precious days mixed with emotional rains,

that fizzle gently in that empty

space between my ears.

Moments of pain and happiness

blended with the now

and so many yesterday tears.

I'm slightly aloof when my mind

is whirling through its gears,

I sometimes struggle

to keep up with my thoughts and fears

as they float up to the roof.

I may be quiet, I may be distant,

but I’m always listening intently.

I'm not everyone's cup of tea,

that's fine, I can only be me.

But get to know me deeply

and you'll see warmth, that flows gently,

a smile always sitting trying to break free

and a heart that cares for those around me.
