Days numbered

Our days -

numbered.

Five years they say.

War rumbles

in the distance.

Be prepared they sneer,

breeding fear.

Inspiring the sweats

that wake you

whenever nightmares leer.

The ticking clock

in motion,

they speak of war,

as if it is set in place,

No debate, no conversation.

Just blinking timetables

towards annihilation.

The end of their wicked fables,

clandestine meetings

around candlelit tables.

Conversations

in darkened corners.

Only ever end with us dead

or cowering at their feet,

wishing for a life more stable.

Don't fall for their lies.

Warmongers, are just like

shit-stirrers at school,

just wanting to swirl up

a tornado in the cesspool.

Soldiers march in mournful song,

but more and more

soldiers will always come

once that bell of war is rung,

and when they are sending

our children to kill

or die behind imaginary lines,

remember the lies they told.

They only worship

pain, power and gold.

Gaslit streets turn dark

as the lights bleed out,

and once the abuse is rife inside,

those lights

will never again reignite.

Now they say three years.

It's inevitable they scream.

Fuelling their own wet dreams.

Their own fantasy islands

where money pours in

and hatred flows out.

Be in no doubt. They want this.

You can see it in their war-lust eyes,

that's why they shout so loud

in propagandised sighs,

vaporous dust like lies.

We need to yell

louder still.

Stop this thirst to kill.

Straw hearts

Could we

co-operate on

a dream?

I'll be your

co-conspirator

in a faraway

fairytale..

Could we co-habit

a miracle?

Send me a signal

painted in hearts and squiggles.

I'll promise not to squeal in delight,

just sit waiting for that light.

I'd lay resting

amongst hay bales

awaiting you.

Through hazy sunlight

of a summer day.

I'd play with the grass,

which sways

in this autumnal hideaway,

twiddling away

creating straw hearts.

Pulling icy winter

flower petals apart.

To scatter to the wind,

scenting the space

with a fragrance

of spring.

Could you cohabit

this place with me?

To be seasoned with the

heartbeats of eternity.

As the sunlight passes,

I'd await moonlights entrance.

Never bored, agitated or aghast

at the lateness of the hour,

I'd just be happy

as time stalks forever past.

Will you be my collaborator

on this play? Would you be

the other half of my parted heart,?

Would you take the other half,

and secure it back in place?

When you enter the space, this barn

where we can be alone

and dream of the wonders

that we are to be shown.

Through bluebell woods

Through bluebell woods,

forests of evergreen.

Butterfly flowerbeds,

dragonfly riverbank

and beautiful meadow scenes.

Carry me home.

My vision is gone.

Wounds won't hold on

much longer, blood longs

to serve the ground

where it belongs,

and the ground

does hunger on.

Across verdant hills,

down gravel paths.

Through lush landscapes,

rose bush escapes.

Silent serenades

to the still life.

Carry me home.

My limbs, weak.

I've lost more than won.

It'll be fun they said,

we will even give you a gun.

I was a rambling man,

now time just ambles on,

and my body feeds

the soulful soil of the earth,

in this hole

where they left me, covered in dirt.
