Why would she?

Could never believe, why would she want him?
had no money or anything to give, his looks were not much, didn't keep trim
but she loved him from afar,
if only he could see, had so much to offer,

Heart the size of a skyscraper, towering above
filled to the brim with love.
so much to share,
she could see it there

Doubted his worth, nothing good in his world, no romance
alone, flitted room to room, never giving hope a chance
never letting in, keeping his thoughts within
never to share or tell her he cares, as if a mortal sin,

To show we are there, our love is here,
we have much, so come and share this touch,
to let you in,
instead we accept fear, let hurt win

Why make it so tough, love, a curse for the shy,
all you want, to make someone happy, to give all you have, not a bad guy
as we ask ourselves why
does life make it so hard to let our feelings show, our voices grow, let our hearts glow

Across the seas

As far as can be, never far enough
happily sail across the seas, choppy and rough
the distance alone would set me free
far away from memories of you and me

An house in the hills
or an island away from life's ills
a mountain top, high above
or a valley hidden from the ones once loved

Far from the dreads and fears
away from those things that led here
happily fly away, into the sun, a warmer place
or into an empty icy waste, a distant space

The woods far from people who cause no good
an empty beach, sand bleached by the sun, the solitude
a freedom from those attitudes would certainly suit my mood
as i watch the world rush by, id sigh and enjoy this interlude.

Trickle

Scream at the sky, why, did all I could in this life,
never was enough, it does crush us underfoot, always on the edge of a knife,
it dents our hopes, shatters dreams, leaves us nothing to cheer,
we give all we have to live poor, in debt to the men we fear.

all is never enough for some, they need more,
to feel their worth soar,
too much doesn't exist for them,
the figures can always rise again.

it never trickles down, a lie to keep people sated,
they just use bigger a cup to collect more, as we sit by feeding on the dregs, deflated
we make do, fighting between ourselves for scraps
making less and less , never enough to avoid the traps

the test can we accept less, can we live with none,
this figure suits them best, destroy the workforce, cut costs at every turn,
they earn their place at the table of wealth, but all will never do, reinvest
not enough they will fight to have some more, till there is just one left

on their diamond encrusted golden throne, atop mountains of cash,
in their shiny tombs, built with the blood of the common people, but it is so flash,
no one will care or know, as you sit all alone, high above,
and wither away, your wealth no trade for a heart filled with love,

Destined to be

was it Fated to be, saw from afar, felt it must be, in the cards
born into this world in the same time span, a billion to one chance
the odds stacked against, the world never made sense
two hearts along for the ride, a journey we started this night.

was this destiny? destined to be, seven billion lives and ours collide
born into this storyline, this fairy tale ride, our dice rolls high
another time, could have missed this, could have turned left skipped it
instead glances struck, connection across the room, a kiss shared by the eyes.

foretold by the stars, constellations sang of this love
could have missed the bus, walked by this place, gone home to bed
could have been born in different times, you here today me sat in a long past day
this is the game the universe plays, chances so slim, held our glances, hearts began their dances.

must be written somewhere in a book, a prophecy of love, long overlooked
could have met a friend or watched a movie instead, could have walked right past, but i was hooked
so many ways we could have not met it would be wrong to waste this
as we get close in each others arms and embrace it.

A fortune told, this love was meant to take hold
this was predestined to be, you and me, this room its views, just a setting for two
set of paths, any turns would set us back, left in a different life, a storyline with no love in sight
we took all the right steps to make this story unique to set this story free.

sent here today, pushed on by hidden hands, to take the right road
to share in our passions, set fire to our hearts minds and souls
our whole being ablaze with the love inside as we dance together for the first time
as our eyes interlock, hold us transfixed, we share our first kiss, a first moment of true bliss.

mythmakers

Myth makers, story tellers, weavers of tales,
a breed alone, to lay out their worlds and set sail,
their minds a glow with inspiration,
fires their passions the imagination.

songwriters poets and musicians, all speak with a flow,
tell their lives as songs to fill our souls, show us ways to go,
to flirt with their angers passions and lust,
their stories in sound give us a sense of trust.

artists and sculptors, among the finest,
their works tell us of worlds that are not our own, a whole new brightness,
to spread new ways to view something ordinary to make it unique,
a different way to see, a shift in perspective, enjoy this tweak.

art comes from the heart, to heal to help grow,
to share seeds of which we can sow,
to see the world from different angles, to watch it form its own meanings,
to set our emotions free to unleash new feelings.

long gone days

Did you know I was there, all those years, spent trying to get you to share,
a lifetime away, those long gone days, as I flirt with the past I feel you there,
a story forgotten, memories long buried, hidden deep where the mind doesn't seek,
a picture comes to mind, a day in time, a thrill of the mind, a still, a peek.

as I sit and reminisce, start to fit this together, and reflect,
see you in every piece, like a jigsaw puzzle, with you its subject,
a silhouette an image just out of view, yet its undoubtedly you, a memory at last,
the long dark hair, that framed you there a moment comes back, a spark of that past.

you were always the one, the sun the moon they shone, back to the days we begun,
was smitten, our love though was intermittent,
if it was true, our love we knew, then how am I here instead of there sharing the view,
this love never blossomed, could never bloom into a flower as pretty as you,

some nights as i sit, alone awake with my heart at stake, feel a part rip as my hearts beat skips,
all the things we could have seen,
the things we should have been,
why do they now only come in dreams.

Nighttime flights

sun sets,  awake as night time begins to loom, to unwind,
a  time to shine, to illuminate the mind,
to thrive in the dull light
as day turns to night

darkness my friend, heals, holds my hand,
my muse in this blanket of shadows, help my thoughts expand
the twilight sets free senses in me, a moments clarity,
mind free to explore the deep shores, its peaks and valleys,

the crisp cool air, entices my vision, to envision worlds afar,
no fears no worry, just a free flow of thoughts, my reservoir,
to give me words, to spark my inspiration,
to set ablaze the powder keg of my imagination,

in the land of the night i feed my creations,
set them free to live and breath to give them motivation,
this almost silent hour, alone alive mind a fire,
sets my spirits free, unleashing the real me,

the hour protects, helps to project,
new words on this page, they inspire me again,
to collect new thoughts to sort them through,
throw bad ones out, give me a new world view.
