In every fleeting shadow cast
by the midnight light.
In every strangers
gait, as they walk right past.
It's there. Just out of sight.
Beside the eye.
In the corner
like a tiger lusting for a bite. It lays
where the blind spot plays.
glinting teeth. a give-away.
if you catch a glisten,
or its growl in the night as you listen,
you should keep yourself well hidden.
You can sometimes
feel it on your skin.
When goosebumps
come for no reason.
It's standing just by your side.
Breathing its cold breath,
over your skin, ready to bite.
Draped in the universal blanket
it stays just out of view
but its teeth are dripping,
ready to devour you.
Its paws
are clamouring all over,
claws itching to start ripping.
The pungent scent
can be a give away,
when you can taste
the agony and decay
in the air, it is near.
Ready to play.
It is pure fear, distilled.
Hate with the impurities filtered.
Anger filled to the brim.
A stagnant swamp
in which to swim.
Memories leak through,
like dripping rain
upon an old tin roof.
Deja Vu, can feel like
you've done something before.
Been here, when? You are unsure.
Been here a million times or more,
etched deep in your memory core.
Echoes seep in
across a billion different universes.
Deja Vu feelings,
a battle you can never win.
The creature has won the war.
Stuck you with its fearsome claws.
