I sit in this temple of dreams,
serpents crawling from the seams,
apple orchard scent
mixed with incense, and a lingering
sweet hint of perfume.
I witness the first kiss of humanity.
I become a voyeur of my own history.
Watching memories come alive
before my eyes, as the rains flow skywards,
and candyfloss clouds coat the ground.
In this drowsy
sanctuary of rest,
midnight light
pours over bare chest,
like hot candle wax,
I let the sting take me back
and I'm floating,
into the arms of the night.
Across the sheets
of satin escape
where she lays draped.
In this church of the night,
in the forest
of the eternally awake,
beside the crystal-clear lake
of so many yesterday stars.
I lay, watching pearl planets
and diamond moonlight
flow over the gemstone seas
of the midnight sky.
I lay on this altar
in the abbey
of abstract alchemy.
As visions of tomorrow
sweep me away,
and words sway like trees
against the stain glass
window glaze.
I feel the echoing choral song
hum through my tired bones,
refreshing them
and recharging my energy
with every spectral tone.
