Fade through
these evening streets.
Clock face blazes bright
against the darkening sky.
Pace into the wind
to feel the chill, the rain
to feel the cool tears
washing my grimy face.
I taste memories.
Embraces from another day,
one lost so many years away.
I chase sirens,
in these serpentine lanes,
I walk in line, to face the pain,
to taste the rain,
embrace the memories that stain.
I waste away, every step I take,
slowly fading into yesterday.
I let times waves wash over me,
water to revive old recollection.
I see reflections of the sky
in the puddles around me.
The moon smiles down I see.
I stride, searching high and low,
for the feint echo of your heartbeat.
I want the glow
of our smiles when we meet
but these old feet are aching,
striving to sleep. I wish you here
but it was all so far away
along a different time flow,
under a different streetlight
years ago,
and I'm fading into the night
with every step I take.
