There was a time,
written and underlined
in a dark fairytale,
where only the unwell
have their stories set sail.
Long ago, a fellow
fell from his wagon,
liver fattened,
brain saddened.
Waved bygone days
into a drunken haze.
Tried to take today,
but the grain maze
was making him ungainly.
Wasted days
just getting wasted,
to escape from
always feeling so sad.
A time, long, long ago.
He'd piss away a day
just to reach tomorrow.
Where he'd waste away the day,
wishing for forever
to come his way.
Running in slow motion.
An all-time low.
Sinking in this ocean.
An all-time low.
Down to the bottom
of a glass he would go.
Just to feel the sensation
of drowning in the overflow.
Once upon a distant page,
unhealthy mind, all full of rage.
Blinds down,
bottles up.
Now the pain
is an overflowing cup.
Frowns and moan.
Lights dimmed, mental fuse is blown.
the future gone.
No smiles shown.
Once upon a bottle smashed.
His future became his past
and the two couldn't co-exist.
One had to die,
and he realised,
he had a life to live.
So, he took
the cracked shards,
The remnants
of bygone yesterdays,
And bushed them away.
Forever and a day.
