Tearing at my skull
from deep within.
Two minds,
in battle for eternity.
Bickering constantly.
Sworn enemies,
with only room for one
but their thoughts combined,
would blind the sun.
One mysteriously faded,
aching. Creaking like
an old gate hanging
precariously, shaking
from a single hinge.
One jolt
and it will fall free
like the sneer
that forms so quickly.
It sees the darkness,
it holds the pain,
It knows the taste of grit filled rain.
The other quiet,
reflective, caring,
Passionate,
smiling yet
aching to be held,
to hold, to wear
his heart on skin,
for all to see.
To tell stories of hope,
lined in streets of gold.
It sees in beauty,
speaks rainbows
and flowers.
It knows that love can always overpower.
It's a balancing act
getting these
two sides to align,
to form a pact.
You juggle,
throwing one up in the air,
to let one hang there,
reflect for a bit,
before switching out
and letting the other play.
Praying that nothing
will set them on a collision course
and cause the smoke to arise,
as the frayed cables catch alight
before your eyes.
