I wish I could
write for you a dream.
One that you feel
as soon as your head
sinks into your pillow.
I'd fill it with colour,
we would take a train ride,
every stop on a rainbow line.
Inside a glass carriage,
so that you
can admire the view.
We would depart
from the city of glinting towers.
As their lights draw a heart.
To shower with love,
to say we keep you
always within our song.
The beat goes on and on.
True souls can never be torn apart.
As the world rushes past in blurs of colour,
a spectrum of hope, a river of forever to discover.
We would sidle slowly across a waterway,
watching the night gracefully dance.
The moon gliding across the sky expanse,
and the glistening stars
twirling to light the pathway towards day.
And the carriage would disappear,
like vapour on the breeze
as we start to fly
through the air, brushing hands
with the canopy of trees.
Soaring through the atmosphere.
To watch the countryside
far and wide. The deep greens
and vibrant yellows,
the red roses,
and blue waters that flow.
They would swirl,
a whirlpool of colour
that we sink into.
As the songbirds sing
a song only for you.
I wish I could speak
to you a dream.
Let it slip into your brain,
and flow like a fine rain,
that eases and caresses.
I want you to be the queen
in your dream palace.
Where the flow of time
is controlled like a thermostat,
the outside view is changeable,
so never boring to look at.
The world is full of adventure and mystery,
a place steeped in its own twisted history.
I want you to feel the bliss
when sleep and reality are entwined,
like pages of a book that
you can flip back and forward at any time.
They feel just like a kiss.
So let me write for you a dream,
and I'll come and visit,
sharing the view,
and when you awaken,
you can bring
the dreamworld back with you.
