creeping dread

feel them crawling, a slimy mass, over my skin
creeping deep within, eating away my sins
feeding frenzy at the buffet of plenty
as they dine upon my soul, leaving me empty

they burrow down, devouring me now
I cant escape this fate, its destined somehow
a banquet of sorts, a five course repast
as they came to this treat, the numbers massed

they gorge away the flesh
a writhing mass of death
the body nearly consumed
let them ingest the rest and bloom

my fears like insects, bugs and beasts
eats away at me, chows down,  feasts
on anxiety, the creeping dread and despair,
consumes what once was me,
with each bite I grow stronger, just wait and see

movie screen reality

Is this reality? nothing like I'm shown on my TV
no quick escapes to happiness, no grand designs no three act story
our plot lines leave holes, all the times we dare not speak
our lifetimes create faults that cause things to break

In movies you always get the girl
save the world, get answers needed, defeat evil
the countdown stops before our final call
the world carries on as before, the curtain falls

In reality it doesn't flow so great
the girl walks the other way
the world is fucked, we left our stain
a never ending cycle of pain

Evil wins through, good gets beaten down
hopes, dreams dashed in an instant, zero on countdown
answers bring more questions, who can we turn to
we can never trust as all are out to get you

Give me the movie screen life
the perfect motion picture wife
the horrors they face in a day
would leave a smile on my face

They can never compare to the terrors
of human nature's endeavours
outside the window, past the door
in the world in which we were born

out of time

Jumbled up thoughts, a confusion of sorts
a clumsy mind, blown and fried, a frail kind
a man from the past, limps into view, getting nearer
a mislaid highlight, a tearful sight, just me in the mirror

Asks where I've been, his voice from deep withintoo many days gone to the ravages of time, where have I been,
a fractured perception, memories shattered
like fragments, the old scene dead and scattered

My confession, could never get along, I tripped and faded
couldn't get a grip, could never fit, didn't belong, left so jaded
traces of my life, places I cant find,
deep in my self, my spirit left far behind

Friends forgotten, no one remains, this place doesn't feel the same
the sand trickles down, the seasons pass by, alone in life again
memories no longer retained
days hidden from this age addled brain

As scraps fizzle back I stagger for clarity,
pushed so hard, I crashed my own party
crushed my own dreams, loneliness my penalty
my own worst enemy

A wish away, those absent old days
those distant sounds that far away town
all those broken grounds, once was all new, a faded story
at peace with you, a day away, a long lost glory

Prison of the mind

Only took to myself to escape
years contained inside, life without shape
hostage to my thoughts each day
a ransom that no one could pay

my vault, like a nuclear bunker
deeply dug under, in slumber
world carried on above my hideout
I sat avoiding the fallout

A retreat, an island in this dark sea
stops anyone from visiting me
surrounded by ships,mines and sharks
my shelter the only landmark

this shell, a cell, deep in hell
hard to escape I could tell
built so well, crafted with tears
to find peace within will take years

one day it will fall as all walls should,
reclaim our place in this global neighbourhood
free from this prison of the mind, this cage of mine
so lets smash it down, one brick at a time

battle zone

Talking to you ignites thoughts inside
a battle zone where love goes to die
a desolate land where happiness cant thrive
a world of hurt where only the meanest survives

This war zone of the soul, a black hole
no escape from its hold
its grip, holds firm, crushes whole
thinking of you leaves me cold

You put me down too many times
a way to make you feel bigger
this was but one of your crimes
you make me hate myself and all I can deliver

So now you're blocked from view, can't hear from you
leaves me so much clearer
as I move onwards to better, bigger, a breakthrough
this life has become much dearer

This Angel

This angel, standing ahead of me, perfect in every way
her face a delight, lights up the night
her lips, full of love a dream to touch,
eyes that sparkle in glee, her arms to hold only me

A kiss shared a magical moment, a spark,
a lightning bolt to the heart, its beat on overdrive
this angel a sight, fall so fast
feel alive, like a magic spell was cast

This angel feels so right, so why am I struck by such fright?
is she really there for me, or is this all make believe?
is this fear in my head or is she a demon instead?
the thought of the pain sure fills me with dread

These fears, so deeply ingrained,
try to open, but I clam up, mess up
walk away, hide the feelings, keep them at bay
close the door before its opened, that way I cant be broken

pain flows red

You hit me hard, face splits, blood spills, I'm down,
the blows rain on, as the flow continues red from my crown,
take the beating, better to feel pain than the numbness within
feelings swell like the wounds on my face, gaining a thick skin,

When I was young, never could fight back,
now I don't want to, welcome the attack,
the pain sets free to feel alive in this moment,
the ache signals my brain there life in this man, damaged not broken

Tried to shout, but the words were stuck,
couldn't find a way to release,
inside trying to escape like a caged beast,
a roar to unleash, to let go, to be set free

So low too low, just want the numbness to go,
to let me scream, let me roar, let me find my voice once more,
to let go of the pain held inside, to find the joy I've been denied,
the confidence i once held, the things that have been withheld
