On the other side of Eden,
no paradise awaits.
Beyond the gates
just
empty desert
bakes.
No oasis in the haze,
just the rays of sun
blinding my gaze.
Just outside Eden
and I turn up too late.
On the other side of Eden
they are feeding
on the lush fruits
from verdant forests
of vibrant trees.
Feasting
on all the wonders life bequeaths.
I'm here surrounded by the vultures.
Picking out scraps,
from the carcasses left to rot,
as the vultures eye me menacingly,
I'm being thankful for all that I've got.
Outside the walls, beyond the gates,
in this place where demons wait,
knowing that soon you'll meet your fate,
on the other side of Eden.
No snakes being deceiving,
just empty plains,
harsh terrains,
and the pain of this eternal grieving.
In that gated, fenced off
beauty spot
they have everything
that I've not,
but I've got,
A rucksack, a writing pad
the shirt on my back,
and I'm happy with that.
