Lonely she stands,
taxi rank
at station entrance.
Eyes sunk
under tears.
Mascara rivers
down cheekbone
canyons.
Freckled Islands.
Her red hair
sways.
Downward gaze,
hides her beauty away.
As the night rushes past,
like the blinding lights
of cars
zooming
too fast,
she looks at the clock.
Swollen eyes,
betray the beauty
of her longing gaze.
She just drowns
below the waves
of emotion.
Waiting
as the tears
trickle.
She exhales.
In her mind
she sails
over seas,
to far away isles,
where the sun only ever smiles
and dries the tears that ripple
like the waves
she wishes to be wading through,
rather than this
lonely station,
in the dead of night,
with the cold
chill wind
biting down on skin
soaked
in the icy midnight dew.
