I wish I could travel back,
twenty years maybe more.
Walking into corridors of trees,
lush green spring fields
coated in dew
and the
damp mist soaking into
the verdant blades
under my feet.
I am not sure what it is I seek
but I hear dawns
first greeting song,
and first love speaks
like a chorus of birds
waking up after
sleeping too long.
And in the
summertime
of my mind,
meadows of green
became our
private dancefloor.
I unwind, as the sun shines
In reflective
mirror ball splendour,
before the clouds come
to cover me
in another
torrential downpour
and first love
becomes
autumn leaf
thoughts.
Kicking through
the autumn leaves,
I see you,
walking through
the orange trees.
The golden hues
that sing like sun rays,
seeping over your rosy cheeks.
Sweeping me
momentarily off my feet,
but I fall with a crash,
and the birds tweet laughing.
Then winter begins
bringing the deep freeze.
A chill breeze,
as I drop to my knees,
asking please
is this all I have
to look forward to?
Solitude,
and another year
looking at memories
of less lonely trees
and down the branches
loves tears always run.
