A waft of freshly ground coffee,
reaches over to me.
A life raft to take the blues away.
My view fills with carefree bodies,
shuffling in the summer heat.
I sit in the open window seat.
Feeling the heat eased
by the lightest touch
of a summer breeze,
watching the last of the sunlight
caressing the horizon.
Peace sits beside me,
calmness within.
The smooth jazz tunes
relaxing.
Thinning crowds drift
between two trees
planted in my view.
and today
becomes yesterday.
As the hours shift
I haven't moved,
just collecting thoughts,
like stamps or old coins.
A cluttered table
of memories and ideas.
Caught in the dead space
between my ears,
listening to the groove
lift through the air,
and feeling words
boost my mood.
Leaving me in space
just floating there.
