The jittering infestation
of copycat critters,
hive mind,
of collective clones crowded
and tethered.
Their thoughts bind,
whilst their faces meld together.
Every glance
Sees their numbers advance.
Another pair of identical
features.
I look at the window
see a reflection of me,
seated, shaking,
seemingly overwhelmed
by these uniform creatures
from some lookalike hell.
You are sat opposite.
So how did I just watch you sway
across the bus station foyer?
Another replicant
sat just behind,
in addition to the one
that is sat
two aisles away.
Is my mind going astray?
Playing tricks on me
and laughing maniacally.
As I brush the thoughts away,
I realise I’m afraid that I'll never see
another dawning of day.
I feel surrounded,
mind unwound.
Slipping into
a world deep underground.
I'm bound to find myself
staring into my own eyes,
entranced in a confounded
shadow dance,
I don't know
if I'll ever get home tonight.
Strangeness is in flight
under these station lights.
on this dark mysterious night.
