I look up
and see
planets colliding,
like worn down love,
crushed,
smashed
into dust.
Stars erupting,
fizzing out
like gas from
a coke bottle
that’s been shaken up,
tossed about,
like hope discarded,
when there
is no saviour in sight.
I see asteroids mourn the loss
of planets, comets cry for the masses.
I hear angels sigh, and demons ask why,
I see the atmosphere
crash into the earth and die.
In a blink of an eye,
I remember a single teardrop.
Just one lost drip
in an ocean overflowing,
and I wish,
oh, I wish for it to all stop.
For just a second.
I witness
the whole of creation
in a snapshot.
A photograph
of reality
blurring away,
replaced by chaos.
Fragmental pieces,
pain, stuck in place,
like a cracked glass surface,
before it fully breaks.
Then it speeds up,
into overdrive,
I see
in fast forward,
the gasses
combust.
Then nothing.
Just vast
emptiness.
My heart as it beats
its lone rhythm.
