I appreciate
all the people
that I've ever been.
The different skins
I've worn over the years,
from scared boy
to grumpy teen,
into my lovestruck dreams
of hope between the stars.
I look upon
the lake of
reflective tears,
reminiscing
about walks beside
hidden waterside treats,
away from grim city streets.
I think about
all the characters I've been,
the costume changes
in between.
The fear
and the doubt.
A scared boy who looked out
through shaded glass
at the seasons
as they came
then passed.
Over the years
you constantly change.
Mindsets become
set a different way,
your skinsuit shapes itself
into the seat you now
absorb yourself in. Your organs
shred cells replacing them,
renewing your body.
To keep things fresh
and clean.
You start to see beauty,
instead of all the rubbish
that blocks the view.
The forest view is clearer
now you've taken a step back
to stop the trees from crowding you.
You sway rather than
slouch into a room.
Confidence grows a field
within you, one that still needs
constant maintaining and review,
but for the first time in your life,
this feels like the real you.
