In those dulcet dreams,
tones of infinity sing
of the internal sting,
the pain within.
I sing back, in response,
but they don't hear a thing.
My voice wavering,
waving as it
leaves me.
Yearning.
In the subtle notes
of moonlight,
over a green grass glade,
on a summer night.
I try to shout, clear my lungs
get the words to fall out,
but I just rasp,
grasping tightly
to my own self doubt.
Could we run barefoot
in the wet grass, dance naked
in the rain?
Feel the water,
a soft velvet blanket
easing our pain. Could we entice
the shooting stars
to light up the skies
just for us?
Or just lay in the soft bliss
of a dewdrop kiss
feeling only eternal happiness.
In the inconspicuous
absence of fear,
we can be free
to do whatever we dare.
Feel the wind rush
through your hair
as we hold the tenuous strands
of reality tightly to share that
we care for it.
Showing that we
will be there
whenever the veil
starts to slip
and the world
of our imaginations
takes a grip
of our fear for a bit.
