I sometimes get so lost in a dream,
lucidly planting new thoughts to bloom,
turning water from puddles to a stream.
I wipe with a cloth to scrub away the gloom,
sweeping through every picture book scene,
giving it all a spring clean.
So that you can see
its magnificence reflecting back on you.
Dreams can elicit so many emotions.
Feelings kept hidden from pages,
too scared to let them venture from lips
terrified that if they slip
they will never get up again.
Dreams show us
that what we think impossible
is truly plausible,
with just a positive outlook
and the will to stand tall
when we wobble,
thinking we will fall.
Dreams can be a home from home,
a place to go when things seem wrong,
to visit when you feel glum.
It isn't a crime to want
to have some “you” time,
away from the light, out of the sun,
just you
letting your thoughts playfully run.
Dreams help us to shape our outcomes,
guide us to become better humans,
make us see beauty
when it's been sat
in front of us for so long.
We can have nightmares, this is true,
but fear is an energy too,
an energy that we can use.
Let it flow through you,
and then let it wash away, cleansing
the world of the fear you once held.
Life can be scary enough
that any dream couldn't compete
with its snarling anger, the hate we meet,
but nightmares show us
that any evil, we can defeat.
Any beast will ultimately fail,
falling at our feet,
as we wake again in the renewed colour
of a world reborn,
and walk free, into the glow of the
low morning sun.
