Sometimes rainbows
rescue us from dark skies.
When black clouds encircle
and the air
menacingly growls.
Sometimes a hint
of colour
pierces the grey
instantly brightening
the day.
Sometimes rainbows
make the gloom
go away.
When the thunder
rumbles
like a jet plane
flying too low
and the air hangs
heavy over head.
Your stomach grumbles
feeling like lead.
Sometimes rainbows
break through
the thick air
that clutches
at your throat.
Sometimes rainbows
hit the right note.
When the rains
are pouring,
and you're
dripping wet,
like a drowned rat,
hair matted,
saturated clothes
starting to drag.
Sometimes
rainbows appear
like a flown
peaceful flag.
To cease the onslaught.
and let your thoughts
fill with colour once more.
