I know that there will be days
where falling seems
like the only option.
I know there will be weeks
where blue
is the only colour
of my mood
and the world
will be painted
in greyscale fog
to cloud my view.
I know there will be
time spent
walking through
those fires again,
Once you've entered,
the hellscape never leaves,
there is no escaping,
the threads that interweave.
I know there will be times
when the hill
feels too steep
to climb.
The summit too far for reach.
The vines will pierce my skin
like a human pincushion.
My blood will come rushing
and I'll feel faint.
I'm not a Saint.
I know that at times
I'll stumble,
fall back,
slip into the cracks and fumble.
I know there will be pain,
each step will bring new strain,
every thought will rain
like lead weights over my head
and there will be times
when no shelter will I find.
I'll just have to accept the way
the streams race,
flowing down my face.
But I know.
That whatever life can throw
I will always have
the lessons learned,
guidance earned,
to find a way through,
the right path to turn.
When dying
would have been easier,
I did the unthinkable
and survived.
