The march of a billion raindrops

Those ominous clouds

loom heavy like night,

deep grey,

almost black.

Ready, waiting

to unleash a torrential attack.

A flood of every tear

the sky has amassed.

People scurry away

like fleeing rats.

The sky bulges down.

bags loaded, ready to split.

It sags until it's

just overhead, reach up and

you could touch it,

feel it's moisture

kissing fingertips,

like heaven is flooded,

and the sky

is starting to rip.

Cccrrrrraaaacccckkkk

Bbboooooooooooooooooommm.

Blinding light

pierces the gloom,

consuming

the softened moon.

Air rumbles with the pounding

march of a billion raindrops

all moving as one.

Sky army bangs

its war drum,

loudly,

The armies wait, standing proudly

Their time will be here soon.

Those on the streets

Panic stricken, swoop into motion,

limbs pulling all directions,

a wavy human ocean.

A demonic ballet of confusion,

Contorted into a

warped dripping illusion.

A small trickle at first.

A scouting force,

surveying the lands,

shaping the terrain.

Then the heaving heavens

finally burst. The dam breaks loose

bringing the first drops of rain,

before the flood washes the

crumbling debris clean away.

Joining the onrushing onslaught

to shape our world

like it's made from

stretchy modelling clay.
