Lantern holder

That smile could make

a whole room sing,

so beautifully

alluring.

It pulls you in.

It beams like the sun,

shining all over everyone.

It makes the day

feel like a second spinning away,

as you wish for the hands of the clock

to stop and let time just witness

the wonders for a momentary gaze.

Time would stand

hands outstretched

as if in praise.

Eyes that speak so many languages,

each one enticing,

like a cake with popping candy icing,

making you gasp at the magic she is supplying.

They make you fall to your knees,

a beggar or a pilgrim

praying for her sanctuary.

With a flutter she makes

your heart and voice stutter.

All you can provide is a barely audible mutter,

but her glance brings peace,

starts to make you feel at ease.

In her company you feel release.

But in her words and thoughts

is where true beauty unfolds,

soothing wounds with her heart and soul.

A doctor, or nurse, a blessing, never a curse

but much more. When the path is lost

and the skies go dark,

she is a lantern holder

pointing the way to embark.

She listens when no one else will.

A therapist

not just there with a pill,

but with a hand to hold

when the world is feeling unreal.

Her light so blinding,

on those dark cold nights.

Keeps you safe

when a fall would end your life.

That smile

lets the happiness glow,

like a star in the darkest night.

A beacon.

She never hides it away

always letting her light shine through.
