Rushing.
Branches brushing fur,
twigs snap under paw
Running free
through the swirls of midnight.
A flicker of humanity.
I remember running
through the steel and brick
forest
with you
in the light
of the moon.
And as I flip back.
She is full tonight.
A sight that invites
my animal side out.
Feeling the bristles
of my fur billow
in the gusty wind that blows.
And I'm back by your side,
you curl up feline-like
as I stroke your hair.
You purr as I
sing to you there.
Now I'm just howling
at the moon,
to show I appreciate
the way her light glows.
It reminds me of you.
I hunger,
need to feast.
I never used to be ruled
by my instincts like this.
I reminisce
We used to wine and dine.
Under the silver skyline
we'd kiss.
\\now I'm just a beast,
supping blood
as I whine.
I see people
I devour them with my eyes
and I remember that night.
I told you to run for your life,
as I drew the beast to follow,
I watched you,
a silhouette in the moonlit hollow,
as the animal tore my flesh
in a single bite.
I feel a lone tear fall
and sing out another call
to the moon up high.
