The haunting thoughts taunt you.
Not wanted. Not needed.
Unimpeded
they seek to make
you feel weak.
To debilitate you,
eliminate the fight within.
Make you give in.
Accept that this
is your fate.
They start to push images through
the cloudy thoughts that shade your view.
They show you ways to end your pain,
take your life, let go then seed the rain.
Not wanted, not needed.
Conceding
as the sounds work their way
through the lining of your brain.
Deep inside where they set up home,
twitching to life and filling you with the noise.
Again, and again.
It's hard to tune out that sound,
to push it down,
to ground yourself in reality.
It's like the aching scream of a stormy sea,
crashing at your exposed brain like a sea wall.
Not wanted, not needed,
Depleted,
you feel your defences fall.
Letting the thoughts infiltrate your core.
It becomes harder
to think happy thoughts anymore.
Fight daily to not
let this parasitic thought win.
Don't listen to the song it sings,
don't let it cling tightly to your skin,
searching for any pore to climb its way in.
Look to the moon.
Hear the beat of your heart.
Find a way to detune,
listen to the songs of the stars.
