Enshrouded by moonlight

I wish the universe would stop

playing twister with my heart.

Quit making it stretch

where it cannot reach,

allow the one it wants,

to break the walls

to breach the vaults,

and take hold of my soul

Crack the glass shell

in which it is ensconced.

Open the doors

and cross my threshold please.

Would it listen, if I screamed?

I only want to feel happy,

and happiness is the one

I've met in my dreams.

She lives enshrouded by moonlight.

A glow, like an angels holy light,

but twice as bright.

I see her when I close my eyes.

A vision burned onto

the blank canvas

of emptiness I keep within.

My escape from the noise

I spend most of my days avoiding.

To share the sweet air she breathes,

to be there in her stories,

to flow through her poetry,

into places where

we can flow free over mountains

built from every whispered I love you.

Where we can feel the truth

blow through trees.

Grown from seeds of every stuttered sigh,

from every time your eye glances

for just too long at her glittered smile.

That gift. The present

that makes everything worthwhile.
