In the noise and toil.
Recognise the beauty
in a moment of silence.
Realise that no words,
doesn't mean no thoughts.
That sometimes we get so caught
in the hustle that we ignore the beauty
of a delicate cuddle, or a flower stretching
to meet the sun, and when the world
is making tears run,
remember that moment of stillness.
It doesn't mean you are not hurting
from this man-made illness,
but that you are finding space.
To make peace your place
and to calm the storms
that whip around your headspace.
When the cries of hurt
are echoing through every atom,
remember that stopping
for a moment, won't stop
the good that you've done.
It won't undo the work
you put into trying to make
this world a better one,
but letting it force you
to your knees won't help anyone.
When it feels like every word you shout
is just echoing back,
when nothing is stopping the feedback,
the constant news of attack after attack.
Stop.
Sit back for a second. Breathe
and remember that taking a breath
won't make the messages
you send mean any less.
Self-preservation and self-love
doesn't mean you don't love others.
Taking a pause
just gives the energy
to keep fighting for a cause.
