Throw away your safety blanket.
Warmth will flow from me to you.
Remove the stabilisers
and though we may wobble, it's true,
we will keep our balance,
I will hold on to you.
Take off your safety goggles.
I won't blind you,
or let anyone
damage your view.
Drop the hard hat, let go of your mask,
I won't let the weight fall on you,
and you don't need to hide your face,
I'd never ask.
Take off the protective coat,
I won't rain on your parade.
I want you to make a splash,
not hide you in the shade.
Throw down your shell of fear,
drop the scarf of hurt you wear.
Let go of any ideas
of terror lurking near.
I won't make rainbows appear,
but I will sit with an open ear,
and I'll be here when the darkness looms,
ready to flick the light on for you.
If I give you all of me
would you toss it aside?
Let it become nothing
just litter on the breeze
or would you accept my weird side
and enjoy the ride?
Would you open up your heart
and let me see inside?
I'll open mine as wide as I can,
flinging my fear aside.
If life becomes hard for me,
If I drop my guard,
will you promise to hold me.
Keep stride, when fear is around.
Or would you flee,
leaving me in my own prison,
demons chasing me.
If I start to lose my grip
and my hold of reality starts to slip,
will you hold out a hand for me?
Will you be there to remind
of this shared smile
when mine is twisting into a grimace.
Will you wear the smile on your face
to keep it safe until such time
that my face can retake it?
Thanks for reading
