Pull back the bow,
let your arrows fly,
into my skin they pierce
but I don't fall and die.
I stumble,
struggle to stay afoot
but I keep on walking,
mouth sewn shut.
I won't let
your poison darts
pollute my heart,
or cut me down.
I'll just keep bleeding
all over town.
Let your arrows
pierce the air,
ripping wounds
in the moonless sky
like blinking stars
crying out.
They penetrate deep,
your arrows of doubt.
I feel my blood seep
but I don't fall and die.
I keep walking.
So let your arrows fly.
I won't let this pain win,
just feel them
like a porcupine
with prickly hairs
sticking out of my skin.
Let your arrows
cut the night in two.
They won't do the job
you want them to do.
I won't fall.
I'll keep walking
through the barrage
as they rain.
Staining the ground
with the contents
of my gushing veins
but I've become so used to it
I no longer even feel the pain.
