The APPocalypse

I assimilate with the simulation,

a little too late, but I was scared of activation.

I had some biscuit related threats,

wasn't letting my cookies be kept.

I wanted to go off map, stay low profile.

Started to stick to the paper lifestyle.

I found a pen and ink,

instead of a fingerprint-smeared screen.

Wasn't someone to be feared,

just didn't want my bank details gleaned

by some random internet user,

because I clicked some misplaced link

on my dusty old computer.

So, I stayed off grid.

The AI rogues couldn't hack me if I did.

Their drones couldn't track me

if I kept my windows closed,

if I shut down my laptop lid.

Or so I thought.

I kept away from Wi-Fi frequencies,

I deleted my GPS destinations,

but Skynet was still chasing me.

I was down for termination it seems.

This was the AI-pocalypse

and I wasn't much of a keyboard warrior.

More of an "Is this the right word worrier"

Over time, the AI started to make ground.

They chased us, hounded us, hunted us down.

Yet no one saw the wood nor the trees,

only zeroes and one's bouncing across a computer screen.

We were transfixed. A photoshop quick fix,

an AI soundbite, didn't matter

that the face didn't quite look right.

The press would never lie,

our government are always so fine and upright.

The artificial army, decimated the lands,

quickly they chased down anyone

with a phone in their hands. So easy to track.

They just followed the co-ordinates

never looking back. The future was bleak,

The sky was black. the computer AI

only seeks a way for us all to die.

But I was off grid. I saw what they did.

They took control of our ethernet tethered

minds, bodies and souls.

With just some news and little spin.

they created the perfect world

for the annihilation to begin

But what they didn't account for,

how I'm here talking to you

and not dead somewhere on the floor.

Is the way batteries fail,

imagine how quick your phone

goes from 100 to 0.

Now imagine those batteries

on a worldwide scale

in an army of monster made of steel.

Before you knew it, they were

stuttering their lines,

falling like flies.

Tried to access the hive mind.

But it was no good.

They dropped signal where they stood

Some tried to recharge using the car chargers,

but the wires didn't connect.

that's what happens

when you let Apple design

the body into which you are decked.

Thanks for reading.
