The kind of heart
that gives the universe
A kick start.
At the first birdsong of day,
when the morning light
is dull and grey,
be the kind of heart
that sets the sun ablaze.
Burn today any bad thoughts,
let them become
dust blowing away.
Be sunlight, not a cloud,
be the happiness
to every miserable crowd.
Be the smile beaming loud,
not the grimace dragging down.
Wear your head held high.
Walk upright, don't slouch.
Take the day and make it yours.
Put it safely in your pouch,
then stay the course.
Go against your
instincts to shy away,
don't listen to the voices
biting your confidence today,
feasting on moments
that bring a smile.
where before,
you would have
turned and run
instead of facing the miles.
Where before you
would have sunk without a trace,
now you stare
the future in its face.
Saying not today,
I'm doing this my way.
A reminder. That failure
isn't permanent,
It's a stepping stone.
A slide to the side,
leading to a better path
somewhere down the riverside.
So, keep striding. Even when it feels
like your life is floating away
on some far away tide.
It's just realigning it's GPS
to find the next stone to guide.
So, keep going along this journey
and wear that smile
with pride.
