Have you ever listened
to the words
in your soul?
The ones
that bubble
and zing.
The ones
at the very core
of everything.
The ones that often sing,
but sometimes cry
when no one is watching.
There is love
deep under the surface,
a mermaid ready to rise,
splashing through
the waters that circle your mind.
She surfaces with purpose,
to point in wonder at our skies.
A silent question
burned deep into her eyes.
She can never comprehend,
so completely is she submerged
under this ocean
that she can never fly,
nor understand
the yearning souls cry.
Have you ever listened
to that voice inside?
The noise that whispers
when silence herself hides.
The one that sits
in a darkened room,
whispering of feeling
alone in the gloom.
That voice often sits
staring out
over an abstract view.
Imagining the moon it saw
in a dream it once knew.
There is love, it screams.
It knows it is there,
aching somewhere between
these twisted, tangled beams
of distorted sunlight.
There is love, it seems lost,
but it lives in the twilight,
ready to be found again
if you are on the right path,
on the right night.
When the moon is shining bright,
it will set the fire alight.
Make songs sing again in pride.
So, in the meantime,
share your heart with the moon,
find the words inside
that show how much you care,
and love will find you soon.
