Now and then
playing in the still air,
as slowly
as the life
that flows past.
A lazy stream
glistening
in the early
evening sunbeams.
I sit
daydreaming of where
I could have been.
I see a faded page
float through the beams.
A verse
of heartfelt poetry.
It seems to
seamlessly
land at my feet.
Demands me
to read.
Reminding me
of where
I should be.
I sit awaiting your call,
speech bubbles pop into the air
filled with scrawled
handwritten messages from you
fading into the evening blue.
The corners drip
with all the tears
it's been soaking in.
Over months
and years.
Now and then.
I wonder back
to the street,
from my place
so far away
and see a face.
The eyes of a dream
We meet.
A gaze. And I realise
I'm still away in daydream,
wishing I was there,
rather than here
in the sunbeams.
