Didn't know any better,
didn't know any better,
and as the tears fall wetter,
the innocent bleed.
It's funny how the need
for innocent blood
always seems
to feed the greed.
They thought life would glow.
Radium girls beamed
wherever they chose to go.
The riches flowed.
like a dream.
complete with its own light show.
Jaw ripped open,
crumbled fine dust.
Jugular vein rains
red spray through
gurgled breath,
like a drainpipe started to rust.
Collapse, and death
had them firmly in its grasp.
Didn't know any better.
The blisters swell.
Didn't know any better,
but their bosses knew
only too well.
Radium girls,
ghosts on the street.
glowing in the night,
fine dust around their feet,
radiant shine to their teeth.
Radium girls,
phantoms on the prowl.
Walking dead.
their screams would howl.
When the pain became
too much for their light heads.
Didn't know any better,
Didn't know any better
and as the body shredding,
bloodletting
made the glow so much redder.
Their bosses hunched their shoulders,
lied and said they never knew any better.
