Violence on the rise,
splattered stuffed toys
caked in rust coloured blood,
innocence cries;
a tide of uncertainty
over unsteady seas.
This world so ugly.
I wish I could
paint some colour
into the scenery.
I'd blow a strong breeze,
clearing the hazy hate away,
leaving only wide-open seas
instead of these
darkening shades
of grey-tinged misery
I’d wish upon a shooting star,
throw all my coins in a fountain,
seek clovers of all kinds.
Search high mountains
and low valleys, looking for hope
in this world of unease.
I’d row my boat
over unpredictable seas.
In hope to share,
to show that we care.
This world so ugly,
a hug is what it needs.
Warm away the coldness
that freezes hearts mid beat,
that echoes through
songs that no longer sing
the way they are supposed to.
I wish for a world
where borders are never closed.
Where we don't let hate blind our eyes
and we can re-open the ones closed tight.
So, they won’t miss
all the wonders you can find
and all of the people
with beauty living inside.
