Through the silence.
Still. Solid. Silence.
Time has ceased.
There was once a hum.
The sound of a billion bees.
A buzz. But that has been
and gone. Now the air is dead.
Something is wrong.
This is somehow worse.
The atmosphere looms.
Oppressive, breaths consumed
feels like fire in lungs of ice.
Until now
There has always been
a background sound. A backbeat
to the orchestra of life.
So now that it is not around,
the world feels like it has
flipped upside down.
Like living in a soundproofed room,
Even the voice you speak
stops at your lips,
drops silently to your feet,
gasping, quiet muffled cries,
before it gives in
and soundlessly dies.
The splinters across reality
have cracked into whole chasms,
Allowing an entity to suck out
our hopes and dreams, our sing song fantasies.
Our life signs that flowed
like sailboats through our bloodstreams,
Now aimlessly drifting on an endless ocean
with no land to call home, and no oars to row.
The silence had started low,
but now it is starting to grow.
Whole villages devoured,
no speech no sounds,
just lifeless zombies
marching around.
